CIWOCH Attend Media Training in Botswana

Esther Somoire Cultural NightAt the end of March CIWOCH’s Esther Somoire was lucky enough to participate in some media train in Botswana. The 5-day training, run jointly by Reteng (Botswana) and Minority Rights Group International, was designed to equip indigenous and minority activists with the tools to get their stories into the EU media and beyond. It included how to identify and pitch a story, how to approach and engage journalists, shooting and editing video, preparing content for the web and building websites. It also included a session in uploading content to an exciting new website called the Minority Voices Newsroom. This website allows grassroots organisations to upload their stories, footage, photos and multimedia content so that journalists can download this material and use it in their reporting.
